5 recent lawsuits, settlements involving payers

Here are five lawsuits and settlements involving payers posted by Becker's Hospital Review in the past month.

1. Brentwood, Tenn.-based Corizon, which has been providing Missouri's prison medical care for nearly 30 years, filed a lawsuit against the state after it lost out on renewing the contract to Centene subsidiary Centurion Health.

2. A federal judge preliminarily approved a class-action settlement over an eating disorder coverage lawsuit brought against Anthem Blue Cross.

3. UnitedHealth Group and CVS Health pharmacy benefit managers are battling with the state of Ohio over efforts to reveal information tied to Medicaid contracts that the state believes should be — and, in some cases, already is — public knowledge.  

4. Wellstar Health System in Atlanta is suing Kaiser Permanente Insurance Co. and its Georgia affiliate, claiming they owe the health system more than $41.7 million.

5. A North Carolina anesthesiologist group joined several patients in accusing UnitedHealth Group of sticking patients with large surprise bills after removing the anesthesiologists from its network.
