The primary care clinic is a collaboration between Fort Madison (Iowa) Community Hospital and Quincy, Ill.-based Blessing Health System.

“KMC filled a void in health care in the Keokuk market during a difficult time. Since then, other health care providers in the region have expanded their primary health care services, leading to the decision to close Keokuk Medical Center,” a spokesperson for Fort Madison Community Hospital, told WIUM.

Nine people work at Keokuk Medical Center. While the closure will displace them, the Fort Madison hospital is working to find them new jobs within its health network.

Patients will be seen at the clinic through Aug. 31. Medical records will be available for pickup until Sept. 28.
