Baptist received state approval to build a $65 million Baptist Center for Cancer Care in August.
In its new proposal, the cancer center would provide the same services but would be expanded to accommodate a growing number of physicians involved in the project, according to the report. Baptist would add 52,688 square feet to the original plans, bringing the total facility to approximately 158,000 square feet. Baptist would also replace a PET/CT scanner with a linear accelerator.
The Tennessee Health Services and Development Agency will likely review Baptist’s request in August. If approved, construction could begin in September with a completion date by early 2015.
