Teen faces charges for brutal assault of nursing assistant at Texas hospital

A teenager who attacked a nursing assistant at Springwood Hospital in Bedford, Texas, in August has been charged with aggravated assault with serious bodily injury and assault with bodily injury, according to the Star-Telegram.

That attack occurred around 11:30 p.m. on Aug. 19 at the psychiatric hospital. Prosecutors have accused the 15-year-old of repeatedly punching the 49-year-old nursing assistant and using a chair to beat her, according to the report.

The nursing assistant was treated for her injuries at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital HEB in Bedford. She suffered facial fractures and bruises as well as chest, knee and wrist injuries.

The teen, who is not being identified because he is a juvenile, is in Tarrant County Juvenile Detention Center in Forth Worth, Texas, according to police.
