St. Luke's, Texas Heart Institute Postpone Court Date, Again

A court date for Texas Heart Institute's suit to free itself from St. Luke's Health System, both in Houston, has been postponed for the second time, according to a Houston Chronicle report.

The original court date of July 12 had been moved to Aug. 2 and is now Jan. 6, according to the report.

In May, Texas Heart Institute filed a suit to have its contract with St. Luke's declared "nonbinding and unenforceable," alleging funding cuts from the health system hindered the institute's ability to fulfill its mission, according to the report.

The suit came in the middle of Englewood, Colo.-based Catholic Health Initiatives' acquisition of St. Luke's.
