St. Luke’s Health System to pay $8.4M for 2013 antitrust lawsuit

Boise, Idaho-based St. Luke’s Health System has been ordered to pay $8.4 million in attorney fees and costs to Saint Alphonsus Health System and Treasure Valley Hospital, both in Boise, as well as the Idaho Attorney General’s office, stemming from a 2013 antitrust lawsuit, reports lost the case.

Saint Alphonsus, Treasure Valley and the state filed the antirust lawsuit against St. Luke’s after it announced its intentions to buy Nampa, Idaho-based Saltzer Medical Group. St. Luke’s lost the case in 2014.

U.S. District Judge B. Lynn Winmill ordered the payments Tuesday. The order pushes St. Luke’s total costs for the trial beyond $25.4 million.
