Police spotted Mark Huellen, 41, allegedly speeding away from a red light in Pittsburgh Monday evening. Mr. Huellen appeared nervous and told police he was a trauma surgeon at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC and was on his way to perform surgery at Pittsburgh-based Allegheny General Hospital, according to the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office.
Police determined Mr. Huellen’s ID badge was “nothing more than something from a plastic label maker,” and Children’s Hospital officials confirmed to authorities no one with the name on Mr. Huellen’s ID badge worked at the hospital.
Federal authorities have been searching for Mr. Huellen since June 28 when he allegedly violated the conditions of his probation. He was previously convicted and sentenced to probation for his involvement in a bank robbery in 2010.
