Christopher Haynes, 30, was found around 10:30 a.m. in Maryland and taken into custody without incident, police said.

D.C. Police Chief Pamela Smith said Mr. Haynes was brought to the hospital on Sept. 6 after complaining of a preexisting ankle injury, according to a separate report from the Post. He escaped after officers did not secure one of his arms to a gurney as they were changing his handcuffs in the emergency department, according to Ms. Smith. Mr. Haynes allegedly assaulted an officer in the course of his escape.

The incident prompted the University to issue a shelter-in-place order for students and staff shortly after.

On Sept. 13, authorities offered a $30,000 reward for information about Mr. Haynes’ whereabouts. It is unclear if anyone will be awarded the money following his arrest.
