Linda Young, 56, said she had worked at the hospital for 14 years when the director of nursing fired her on Nov. 8, 2018. According to the lawsuit, the director said the only available positions were for night obstetrics shifts and that Ms. Young would not want to do that job. Ms. Young said she went to the hospital administrator the following day, who said, “There are some places that once you get to a certain age, they fire you for no reason at all.”

The suit further claims Ms. Young was told she was cut for budget purposes, although she was the only nurse fired, and that new nurses were transferred to her department after her termination. Ms. Young seeks payment for damages, including back and future pay and lost benefits.

CRMC did not respond to Becker’s request for comment.
