As part of a plea agreement, Zahid Aslam, MD, agreed to pay $3.1 million to resolve civil liabilities connected to the operations of his two medical practices: Fast Care Medical Aid Unit and Amna Medical Center, both in Elkton, Md.
According to the Justice Department, Dr. Aslam used false information to obtain a loan he knew he would not quality for. In addition, his company Fast Care, doing business in Delaware and Maryland as Got-A-Doc Walk-In Medical Centers, and Amna Medical Center submitted false claims to Medicare, according to the government.
Dr. Aslam’s sentencing is scheduled for May 22, 2019. He will no longer be able to bill Medicare, Medicaid or any other government healthcare program, and also agreed to surrender his medical licenses.
