The trauma center at Orange Park Medical was granted a provisional license before a ruling by an administrative law judge found the state’s trauma center certification to be invalid. Despite the ruling, Orange Park Medical opened its trauma center.

At a state Department of Health workshop being held to develop new trauma center certification rules, Tom Pentz, CEO of Orange Park Medical said that the hospital has complied with the order. However, the hospital has also filed for an appeal on the department’s decision, Steve Ecenia, Orange Park Medical’s attorney told the Florida Times-Union.
