5 Top Head, Neck Laser Procedures Physicians are Sued For

A new study published in JAMA Facial Plastic Surgery has identified the head and neck laser procedures that lead to the most medical malpractice cases against physicians.

For the study researchers reviewed publicly available state and federal court records to identify medical malpractice cases involving head and neck laser procedures.

Researchers identified the following as the five procedures that lead to the most malpractice cases:

1. Cutaneous resurfacing for age-related changes – 21 percent of claims

2. Resurfacing for acne marks – 15 percent of claims

3. Hair removal – 15 percent of claims

4. Other cutaneous procedures – 12 percent of claims

5. Removal of vascular lesions – 12 percent of claims
