Novant Health provides mental health app for patients, 36,000 employees

Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Novant Health has begun offering digital mental health support from NeuroFlow to its patients and 36,000 employees.

The mobile platform will be available to patients 13 and older who are diagnosed with depression, giving them 24/7 access to mental health resources and support and alerting clinicians when users might need more help. Meanwhile, Novant Health will offer a "self-care" app to staffers.

"Our partnership with NeuroFlow gives patients grappling with mental and behavioral health needs continuous access to a digital toolbox, and — most importantly — they can be monitored by a Novant Health physician who can provide additional support and intervention," said Ashley Perrott, MD, senior physician executive for the Novant Health Community Health & Wellness Institute, in a July 11 news release shared with Becker's. "One of the benefits of this technology is that we can stay connected with patients and monitor their progress between visits with their care team, which we hope will translate to improved patient experience and outcomes."

The program will start at select clinics in Winston-Salem and Charlotte, N.C., with plans to expand to more patients, staffers and mental health conditions in the coming year. The Duke Endowment provided grant funding for the partnership.
