5 recent virtual reality medical innovations

Virtual reality is an exciting new technology that allows medical systems to train clinicians in the digital world.

Five recent medical VR innovations:

  1. Salisbury, N.C.-based Novant Health Wallace Cancer Institute is offering cancer patients VR headsets during treatment to fight stress in patients. The institute is the first facility in North Carolina to provide the technology to patients.
  2. Medtech company Smith+Nephew expanded its VR training program to include the world's first arthroscopic meniscus repair.
  3. The University of Charleston (W.Va.) partnered with VR company Perspectus to launch a VR lab where students can study human anatomy. 
  4. Anatomage released metaverse compatible VR technology designed for life sciences and anatomy students.
  5. Houston Methodist partnered with FundamentalVR to give training opportunities to clinicians in the digital world.
