Select Specialty Hospital nurses rally for first contract

Nurses at Select Specialty Hospital - Erie (Pa.) rallied Saturday for contract negotiations, according to WJET-TV.

The nurses, represented by the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, are seeking their first contract, the report states. They have worked without a contract since unionizing in 2012.

In response to the rally, the hospital provided a statement to WJET-TV.

"Select Medical is deeply rooted in a culture that values and supports its employees. Our nurses are important and valued. They are vital members of the professional team and highly committed to providing exceptional care for the patients and families we serve. While we cannot share details of ongoing contract negotiations, we are diligently working to make progress and have been, and will continue to negotiate in good faith," hospital officials said.
