Samaritan Summit Village, Samaritan Keep Home workers unionize

Workers at Samaritan Summit Village and Samaritan Keep Home facilities in Watertown, N.Y., voted to join 1199 Service Employees International Union United Healthcare Workers East, according to the Watertown Daily Times.

The vote covers a number of workers including certified nursing assistants and resident care aides.

The union will now work with Samaritan to schedule negotiations for the workers' first contract, the report states.

Samaritan Keep Home long-term care facility and Samaritan Summit Village assisted living facility are part of Samaritan Health.
