Pikeville Medical Center adds 3,000th employee

Pikeville (Ky.) Medical Center is in the midst of a hiring boom. The hospital recently hired its 3,000th employee, an information systems project manager, according to The Daily Independent.

That employee, Judy Lawson, joined PMC Monday. Since Jan. 1, PMC has added 930 jobs, including 60 physicians, according to the article.

Hospital officials attribute the job growth to patients coming to the hospital in record numbers. PMC, a member of the Mayo Clinic Care Network, is a 300-bed facility that offers more than 400 services, including every major specialty and most subspecialties. It is the only level II trauma center in Kentucky, according to the report.

At present, the hospital has nearly 400 credentialed healthcare providers on staff, including physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and certified registered nurse anesthetists, and seeks to fill approximately 50 additional physician vacancies in more than 20 medical specialties.
