Health Services Coalition coordinates health plans for approximately 20 employers and labor groups throughout Nevada.
The group picketing Feb. 18 was made up of mostly culinary union members. The group was protesting what they claim are stall tactics and an unfair healthcare services rate hike demanded by HCA, which owns Sunrise, as well as MountainView and Southern Hills hospitals in Las Vegas, according to the report.
The Health Services Coalition and HCA are currently in a contract dispute, but hope to coordinate a three- or four-year contract to replace their current one, which ends Feb. 29. If they are not able to negotiate a new contract, the change will affect more than 275,000 Nevadans.
