The contract between the union representing most Methodist Medical employees and the hospital was set to expire Tuesday but is now extended another month, according to the report. The contract now runs through Nov. 15.
Shanella Hawkins, RN, said in a union news release cited by The Oak Ridger: “A number of key issues [remain] on the table, and this extension will give both sides time to hopefully work through our differences and find common ground.
“Our goal still is — and always has been — to reach an agreement that is good for patients, the community and our members.”
