Do more educated nurses save lives?

In a recent Capella University blog, a study revealing that a more highly educated nursing workforce saves lives is discussed.

Nurse researcher Linda H. Aiken, RN, PhD, FAAN, FRCN, published this study with research that shows each 10% increase in the proportion of nurses in a hospital with a bachelor’s degree is associated with a 7% decline in mortality following common surgery.

However, 60% of the nursing workforce is community college graduates.
