The hospital reportedly laid off two radiology technician assistants, which comes in addition to 25 layoffs St. Joseph Health-Humboldt County announced last September.
Technician Kyle Glenzer told the Times-Standard he is concerned the recent layoffs will create delays in patient care.
“When you’re delayed at the beginning, it all unravels: the exam is delayed, the results delayed, the patients’ finding out delayed — it creates a domino effect,” he said.
Hospital spokesperson Christian Hill did not provide the Times-Standard with a reason for the two recent layoffs but via a statement to the publication said that eliminating positions, such as the two technician jobs, is part of efforts to develop the “best organizational model” for the facility.
The rally is slated to begin at 3 p.m. Jan. 24 outside the hospital. Unionized employees will participate during their breaks.
