For the study, The AP-NORC Center, with funding from The Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, conducted 1,075 interviews with a nationally representative sample of Americans age 50 and older.
Here are five key findings from the study.
1. Among adults age 50 and older, 25 percent of those who are not retired never plan to retire.
2. Fifty-five percent of Americans age 50 and older plan to work past the traditional retirement age of 65 or have already done so.
3. Nearly two-thirds of those who decide to work past age 65 made the decision mostly for financial reasons.
4. More than 25 percent of workers age 50 and older have received job training or additional education in the last five years.
5. More than four in 10 Americans age 50 and older have spent at least two decades working for the same employer at some point in their careers.
