Wyoming Hospitals End Partnership Discussions Due to Health IT Differences

Cheyenne (Wyo.) Regional Medical Center and Wyoming Medical Center in Casper have decided to end talks about affiliating, according to a Wyoming News report.

Hospital leaders had been discussing forming an integrated healthcare system. A website discussing the potential partnership was even launched. However, according to the report, after exploring the partnership the organizations found that technology was a barrier — the hospitals use different and incompatible computer systems. In addition, the hospitals have different governing structures.

For these reasons, the hospitals will not move ahead at this time but may continue to work together to improve healthcare for Wyoming in other ways, according to the report.
