Weight Loss Surgical Center to Build Specialty Hospital in Kansas

Weight Loss Surgical Center is planning to build a specialty hospital in Overland Park, Kan., called Blue Valley Hospital, according to a report in the Kansas City Business Journal.

Cost of the new facility was not disclosed by the company, but Weight Loss Surgical Center expected to open the hospital in summer 2010, according to the report.

The decision to build the hospital was due to some insurance companies not approving weight loss surgery an ASC setting. Weight Loss Surgical Center operates eight centers in Kansas, Iowa, Missouri and Nebraska.
