Vote on Merger of Loris Healthcare, McLeod Health Scheduled for Nov. 1

Voters in the special district that oversees Loris (S.C.) Healthcare System will vote on Nov. 1 whether or not to merge with Florence, S.C.-based McLeod Health, according to a WPDE News report.

Loris, which includes Loris Community Hospital as well as Seacoast Medical Center in Little River, S.C., is asking community members to support the merger. However, at least one community member has filed a complaint over the loss of “public accountability” that would result if Loris became part of the private health system, according to the report.
