Madison, Wis.-based UW Health and Marshfield (Wis.) Clinic Region of Sanford Health are in talks concerning Marshfield Medical Center-Beaver Dam (Wis.) and its associated clinics and healthcare facilities joining UW Health.
“While these conversations are still in the early stages, both organizations share a commitment to ensuring the Beaver Dam community has access to high-quality, patient-centered care close to home,” Marshfield Clinic and UW Health said in an Oct. 6 joint statement shared with Becker’s. “Exploring this potential partnership provides an opportunity to strengthen local healthcare for patients and support the long-term needs of the community.”
Marshfield Medical Center-Beaver Dam is a 60-bed acute care hospital. It joined Marshfield Clinic Health System in 2019, according to a community health implementation strategy document from the health system.
The potential transaction comes after Sioux Falls, S.D.-based Sanford Health and Marshfield Clinic Health System merged into a nonprofit integrated system to operate as Sanford Health in early January.
The merger created a 56-hospital system with 4,500 providers, around 56,000 employees, two fully integrated health plans, research institutions and specialty pharmacies.
