Unicoi County Chooses Not to Oppose Hospital Sale

Earlier this week, commissioners of Unicoi County, Tenn., considered a resolution to object to the acquisition of Unicoi County Memorial Hospital in Erwin, Tenn., but ultimately failed to pass the resolution, according to an Erwin Record report.

In November, the UCMH Board approved the hospital’s acquisition by Mountain States Health Alliance, based in Johnson City, Tenn.

Last week, the town of Unicoi Board of Mayor and Aldermen approved a similar resolution to object to UCMH’s acquisition. However, the town of Unicoi does not have a direct ownership interests in the hospital.
