State approves merger of 2 Massachusetts hospitals

The Massachusetts public health council approved the merger of two hospitals that are part of the Springfield, Mass.-based Baystate Health network, according to WWLP.

Ware, Mass.-based Baystate Mary Lane Hospital will officially become a satellite of BaystateWingHospital in Palmer, Mass., on Sept. 10. All in-patient services will be transitioned to Baystate Wing. Outpatient services will continue at the Mary Lane location.

According to the merger agreement, the Ware location will be renamed Baystate Mary Lane Outpatient Center, according to the article.
