Poudre Valley Health System, University of Colorado Hospital Sign Letter of Intent

Fort Collins, Colo.-based Poudre Valley Health System and the University of Colorado Hospital at the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora have signed a letter of intent to create a joint operating agreement, according to a joint news release by the hospital and health system.

The University of Colorado Hospital and PVHS decided to pursue a partnership due to health insurance reform, the increasing complexity and cost of treating patients and an anticipated physician shortage.

Under the joint operating agreement, the two institutions would form a joint operating organization to oversee strategic direction and the overall budget for the unified system. The University of Colorado Hospital and PVHS would continue to control the operations of their own facilities.
