Ohio’s Sisters of Charity and University Hospitals End Joint Ownership Arrangement of Two Facilities

Cincinnati-based Sisters of Charity Health System and Cleveland-based University Hospitals have ended their joint ownership arrangement of Mercy Medical Center in Canton, Ohio, and St. Vincent Charity Hospital in Cleveland, effective Dec. 31, according to a report by the Canton Repository.

Both Mercy Medical and St. Vincent Charity are now solely owned by Sisters of Charity.

The end of the joint venture is intended to allow the hospitals to better serve the needs of the community and increase operational efficiencies, according to the report.

Sisters of Charity and University Hospitals will continue their joint ownership of John West Shore Hospital in Westlake, Ohio.
 
All three hospitals will retain their current leadership, according to the report.
