Northwell Health, Western Connecticut Health Network ink collaboration agreement

New Hyde Park, N.Y.-based Northwell Health and Danbury-based Western Connecticut Health Network an agreement Thursday to explore possible clinical partnerships and population health services while also allowing WHCN patients access to Northwell facilities.

While Northwell will benefit from WCHN's brand reputation in western Connecticut and parts of New York, Northwell will provide WCHN with access to its purchasing channels, data analytics, supply chain management knowledge and workforce development opportunities through its Center for Learning and Innovation.

WHCN's ultimate goal is to improve its clinical and operational efficiencies.

"We are proactively managing our transition to value-based care by collaborating with local and regional organizations that share our vision and values," President and CEO of WCHN John Murphy, MD, said. "Leveraging their areas of expertise will enable us to sustain excellence and growth as the healthcare industry rapidly evolves. This exciting relationship with Northwell will help us to advance our mission quickly, efficiently and cost effectively."

The organizations' similar cultures were a deciding factor in forming the partnership, according to Northwell President and CEO Michael Dowling.

"This collaboration is beneficial for both organizations, which share many of the same attributes and qualities, including an open and transparent culture, and a focus on physician and employee engagement," Mr. Dowling said.
