The acute psychiatric hospital system will assume operations of former Crown Point-based Adam Benjamin Jr. Veterans Affairs Clinic. The VA clinic moved to a different building in 2011. NeuroPsychiatric Hospitals is planning a $9 million to $10 million restoration of the complex.
Once complete, the 70-bed NeuroPsychiatric Hospital will focus on stabilizing psychiatric patients requiring medical care until they can be relocated to a proper facility, the report states. The hospital will employ up to 200 employees and operate 24/7.
NeuroPsychiatric officials will request city council approval for the project at a July 5 meeting.
