Hospital Acquires Multi-Specialty Clinic in Washington State for $17.5M

The board of commissioners for Skagit Valley Hospital in Mt. Vernon, Wash., voted to approval the hospital’s plans to purchase Skagit Valley Medical Center, a multi-specialty clinic with more than 100 providers, for $17.4 million, according to a news release from the hospital.

The acquisition is still pending a March 31 vote by SVMC’s shareholders. If approved, the hospital will assume some assets and equipment and lease remaining facilities from SVMC as part of a two-year merger plan, according to the release. The hospital will employ SVMC’s 300 staff members beginning in July 2010.
