Under the agreement, the corporate parent of the Hospital of Central Connecticut would become part of Hartford Health Care Corp., which includes Hartford Hospital and two others. The hospitals hope to save more than $230 million over five years, much of it from consolidating back office functions, according to the report.

The Federal Trade Commission must still clear the deal before it can proceed.
