According to a recent press release, Mercy deployed advanced analytics software from Ayasdi, which uses reverse experimentation to identify patterns in data.

The software examines Mercy’s electronic health records data and pulls out information on specific procedures and reveals objective patterns. Then physicians examine the results. The initial results have been promising although the payoff most likely won’t be shown until later. “There’s millions of dollars worth of opportunity there. The trick is for us to harvest that opportunity,” said Vance Moore, Senior Vice President, Operations.
