Massachusetts Will Hold Hearings on Selling Caritas Christi to For-Profit Group

Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley will hold public hearings on the proposed sale of Caritas Christi Health System to Steward Health Care System, an affiliate of Cerberus Capital Management, according to a report by the Boston Herald.

The sale would mean transitioning Caritas Christi, a Catholic system, into a for-profit organization, raising concerns it would cut back on charity care.
