Lakeland Regional Medical Center, University of South Florida Partnership Moves Forward

Lakeland (Fla.) Regional Medical Center has received approval from Lakeland city commissioners to amend the city’s contract with the hospital, allowing the hospital’s partnership with the University of South Florida to advance, according to a Ledger report.

LRMC and USF announced a partnership in September to turn LRMC into a teaching hospital and the inaugural member of USF Health System. Under the deal, LRMC CEO Elaine Thompson will also serve as CEO of the USF system.

The new city contract specifies the revenue LRMC must maintain to support USF Health System initiatives and also amends requirements surrounding board member diversity.
