Officials from Gadsden Community Hospital in Quincy, Fla., and Hospital Corporation of America are beginning negotiations that could result in HCA taking over operations of the public hospital, according to a report by the Tallahassee Democrat.

The two groups are currently drafting a letter of intent to explore the partnership.

Gadsden Community Hospital was closed in 2005 by state regulators for “operating deficiencies,” according to the report.

After its closing, the hospital underwent major renovation, which was recently completed.

Gadsden Hospital Inc., the board that oversees the facility and previously operated the hospital, holds an inactive state license, so it cannot presently operate the facility. As a result, the board is interested in partnering with another group that would oversee the hospital’s operations.
