Halifax previously made a bid for Bert Fish, but was rejected when the hospital chose to ink a deal with Adventist Health’s Florida Hospital in Orlando. That deal, however, must be reconsidered because the Southeast Volusia Hospital District, which owns Bert Fish, was cited for violating the state’s Sunshine Law. The Sunshine Law establishes a basic right of access to most meetings of boards, commissions and other governing bodies of state and local governmental agencies or authorities.
In response to the alleged violations, the hospital district will hold a public meeting on Monday to reconsider the merger. Halifax Health has not yet decided if it will offer a new bid, saying it is “not sure it’s worth [the] time,” according to the report.
