Estes Park (Colo.) Health officially joined Aurora, Colo.-based UCHealth Dec. 1 as UCHealth Estes Valley Medical Center.

“This not only gives us financial stability and additional access to resources and subject matter experts, but also assistance in recruiting and retaining staff and providers, and importantly, continued access to healthcare for our patients,” Vern Carda, president of Estes Valley Medical Center, said in a news release.

Under the partnership, a new board of directors will oversee responsibilities at the nonprofit hospital, including patient quality and safety, medical staff credentialing and recommending EVMC budgeting to the UCHealth board of directors.

UCHealth will also dedicate at least $20 million for routine maintenance and capital projects at EVMC over the next 10 years and assume $10 million of the facility’s long-term debt.

The news comes after Park Hospital District, which operates Estes Park Health, signed a letter of intent with UCHealth in October 2024. Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser approved the partnership in September 2025 and Park Hospital District’s amended service plan for the partnership was approved Nov. 10 by the Larimer County (Colo.) board of commissioners.
