Capella and Saint Thomas to Partner, Jointly Own 4 Tennessee Hospitals

Nashville, Tenn.-based Capella Healthcare and Saint Thomas Health have signed a letter of intent to form a partnership that will result in joint ownership of some hospitals, according to a joint news release.

Officials expect the new partnership to go into effect on or before March 1. Under the pending arrangement, Capella and Saint Thomas will jointly own and operate four hospitals in Tennessee and possibly additional facilities in Tennessee and Kentucky. Capella will be the managing member and majority partner in the new partnership.

Capella hospitals included in the joint venture are River Park Hospital in McMinnville, White County Community Hospital in Sparta, DeKalb Community Hospital in Smithville and Stones River Hospital in Woodbury — all in Tennessee.

Capella includes 15 hospitals across seven states. Saint Thomas, a member of Ascension Health, consists of five hospitals.
