Kyle Hopstad, administrator of Broadwater Health Center, told the Independent Record the hospital is “in the shopping stages” and is evaluating what Billings Clinic has done with other similar-sized hospitals throughout the state.
Billings Clinic most recently signed an agreement to provide all management services at Wheatland Memorial Healthcare, a 25-bed critical access hospital in Harlowton, Mont. Billings Clinic has affiliation or management agreements with 11 small hospitals in Montana and Wyoming.
In September 2012, Broadwater Health Center received $500,000 from private donations and loans to stave off a possible closure. In addition to financial problems, the hospital closed and later reopened due to noncompliance with patient safety standards.
