Boone Hospital trustee candidates support potential merger with MU Health

Candidates vying to fill seats on the Columbia, Mo.-based Boone Hospital Center board of trustees expressed varying degrees of interest in seeing the hospital partner with the University of Missouri Health Care, also in Columbia, in some capacity, according to the Columbia Daily Tribune.

The four candidates looking to fill the two open seats on the hospital board during the April election expressed interest in a potential partnership agreement during a forum Tuesday.

The Boone Hospital Center board of trustees is in the process of considering management options for the hospital. The lease agreement with St. Louis-based BJC Health Care, which currently manages the hospital, expires in 2020. Both parties must declare their decision to continue, modify or end the lease by the end of 2018, according to the article.
