Winter Haven (Fla.) Hospital and Clearwater, Fla.-based BayCare Health System have completed due diligence, and the merger between the two organizations will go into effect Aug. 30.
The transaction has been a year in the making. Winter Haven executives signed a letter of intent to merge with BayCare last August, and Winter Haven's board of trustees signed a definitive agreement in April.
The 527-bed Winter Haven will become the 11th hospital within BayCare's network.
