Helena Health Foundation acquired Progressive Health of Helena (Ark.), a 127-bed hospital, on May 31.

The hospital is now operated by Arkansas Rural Health Partnership under a management services agreement, hospital CEO Marion “Tony” Thompson told Becker’s

Helena Health Foundation recently voted to rename the hospital Helena Hospital, Arkansas Rural Health Partnership confirmed to Becker’s.

It marks the second time in two years the hospital has changed names and ownership. In February 2024, Oxford, Miss.-based Progressive Health Group acquired the hospital — then known as Helena Regional Medical Center — from Brentwood, Tenn.-based Quorum Health for $2.5 million.

Progressive Health Group subsequently renamed it Progressive Health of Helena. It took on “significant inherited debt and decades of financial instability,” Progressive wrote in a statement shared with Becker’s. It said its team launched additional ancillary services, strengthened its emergency department’s reputation and implemented the rural emergency hospital model to secure federal support.

“While meaningful progress was made, it became clear that long-term sustainability would require local stewardship and investment,” the statement said. “We are proud of the role we played during this critical period and of the dedicated team members who served the community with excellence.”

The most recent purchase price was not confirmed.
