Pittsburgh-based Allegheny Health Network will acquire two Pennsylvania hospitals, pending government approval.
Allegheny Health Network and Beaver, Pa.-based Heritage Valley Health System have signed an affiliation agreement to expand and strengthen Heritage Valley’s services, according to an Oct. 16 joint news release.
Heritage Valley Beaver (Pa.) and Heritage Valley Sewickley (Pa.) will become AHN’s 15th and 16th hospitals in its network. Heritage Valley’s outpatient clinics and physician practices will be fully integrated into AHN under the transaction.
Highmark Health — which operates AHN and insurance services firm Highmark — has thousands of insured members who receive care at Heritage Valley, the release said.
As part of the affiliation, AHN will become the sole corporate member of Heritage Valley. Over the next decade, both systems will make investments to improve community health through facility upgrades, enhanced services and upgraded IT infrastructure.
“At AHN, we’re passionate about collaborating with like-minded patient and community focused organizations to improve health and wellness, and we’re excited to partner with Heritage Valley Health System to help us further advance that vital mission across the region,” AHN President Mark Sevco said in the release.
An AHN spokesperson declined to share financial details of the transaction.
