1. Banner’s management of Alaska hospital comes to an end
Fairbanks (Alaska) Memorial Hospital’s more than 15-year affiliation with Phoenix-based Banner Health came to an end Sunday. The hospital is now operated by Fairbanks-based Foundation Health Partners, a subsidiary of the Greater Fairbanks Community Hospital Foundation.
2. CHS sells controlling interest in home health business to drive down debt
Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems completed the sale of a majority interest in CHS Home Health to Louisville, Ky.-based Almost Family, a provider of home health nursing services.
3. UHS closes $464M deal for 81 UK behavioral health facilities
King of Prussia, Pa.-based Universal Health Services completed its acquisition of London-based Cambian Group’s Adult Services Division, which includes 81 behavioral health facilities in the United Kingdom with a combined 1,193 beds.
4. Quorum Health divests Georgia hospital
Quorum Health Corp., the 36-hospital spinoff of Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems, closed its second divestiture transaction in the fourth quarter of 2016.
5. Pocono Health System merges with Lehigh Valley Health Network, transitions leadership
East Stroudsburg, Pa.-based Pocono Health System became part of Allentown, Pa.-based Lehigh Valley Health Network.
6. Rennova Health to acquire shuttered Tennessee hospital
West Palm Beach, Fla.-based Rennova Health inked an agreement to acquire Scott County Hospital in Oneida, Tenn., which closed July 1.
7. Dignity Health in joint venture discussions with teaching hospital
San Francisco-based Dignity Health is in discussions to create a joint venture with an undisclosed major academic medical center in the San Francisco Bay Area.
8. Palmetto Health explores partnership with 2 rural hospitals
Columbia, S.C.-based Palmetto Health is exploring a partnership with Lake City (S.C.) Community Hospital and Williamsburg Regional Hospital in Kingstree, S.C., which suspended services in February.
9. Bankruptcy judge OKs sale of Pioneer hospital for $400k
Lilburn, Ga.-based LifeBrite Hospital Group gained approval from a federal bankruptcy court judge to acquire Pioneer Community Hospital of Stokes in Danbury, N.C., and other medical facilities for $400,000.
