The following healthcare mergers, acquisitions, partnerships and general transactions took place or were announced during the week of Feb. 12.

1. Michigan Medicine, Trinity Health subsidiary to partner on 'master affiliation,' joint venture: 4 things to know
Ann Arbor-based Michigan Medicine and Detroit-based Saint Joseph Mercy Health System signed a definitive agreement Feb. 15 to establish a master affiliation and joint venture to assume control of St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea (Mich.), effective immediately.

2. U of Texas regents approve Ardent partnership to take over Texas health system
The Austin-based University of Texas System board of regents approved the proposed partnership deal with Nashville, Tenn.-based Ardent Health Services to assume control of East Texas Medical Center Regional Healthcare System in Tyler Feb. 15.

3. UAB Health System to manage rural Alabama hospital
Birmingham, Ala.-based UAB Health System entered into a management agreement Feb. 14 with J. Paul Jones Hospital in Camden, Ala., to prevent the rural hospital from closing.

4. Presence Health inks definitive agreement to join Ascension
St. Louis-based Ascension, the nation's largest Catholic health system, signed a definitive agreement Feb. 15 to integrate one of Illinois' largest Catholic health systems, Chicago-based Presence Health.

5. Greenville legislators introduce bill to sell Greenville Health System
Eight members of the 22-person Greenville (S.C.) County Legislative Delegation jointly proposed a bill Feb. 15 calling for the sale of Greenville Health System.

6. State gives unanimous final approval for proposed Partners, Mass. Eye and Ear acquisition
The Massachusetts Department of Public Health approved Boston-based Partners HealthCare's proposed acquisition of Massachusetts Eye and Ear, also in Boston, Feb. 14.

7. CHS divests 60-bed Louisiana hospital
Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems revealed Feb. 14 its subsidiaries entered into a definitive agreement to divest Leesville, La.-based Byrd Regional Hospital and its associated assets to subsidiaries of Allegiance Health Management, a 14-hospital organization in Shreveport, La.

8. FTC OKs proposed Aurora Health Care, Advocate merger
Milwaukee-based Aurora Health Care and Downers Grove, Ill.-based Advocate Health Care have reportedly received approval to merge from the Federal Trade Commission.

9. New York urgent care provider to grow to 100 locations under 2 deals: 4 things to know
CityMD, a New York City urgent care provider, will expand its physician-led network to 400 providers under two acquisitions.

10. UPMC forms clinical affiliation with Maryland health system
Pittsburgh-based UPMC signed a definitive agreement with Cumberland-based Western Maryland Health System Feb. 8 to form a clinical affiliation.

11. ProMedica signs deal to keep Ohio city's last abortion clinic afloat
The board of trustees of Toledo, Ohio-based ProMedica authorized the signing of a patient transfer agreement Monday to keep the city's last surgical abortion clinic operational.

12. Rite Aid completes 'more than half' of planned store transfers to Walgreens
Camp Hill, Pa.-based Rite Aid said Feb. 8 the company has completed the transfer of a "significant amount" of its assets to Deerfield, Ill.-based Walgreens Boots Alliance as part of its $4.38 billion deal.
