3 Michigan entities partner on cancer services: 5 things to know

Flint, Mich.-based McLaren Health Care Corp., which includes Mount Clemens, Mich.-based McLaren Macomb Hospital, Detroit Medical Center and Karmanos Cancer Institute in Detroit, have agreed to collaborate on providing cancer services in and around Detroit, according to a report from The Macomb Daily.

Here are five things to know about the agreement, as stated in the report.

1. The agreement was reached as part of a settlement over McLaren’s 2013 acquisition of Karmanos Cancer Institute, according to Crain’s Detroit Business.

2. As part of the agreement, Karmanos will continue to provide cancer services at DMC’s Harper-Hutzel hospitals.

3. The three parties will also explore opportunities to expand cancer services provided at other DMC sites.

4. In addition, McLaren will complete the integration of Karmanos into the McLaren Health System.

5. Phil Incarnati, president and CEO of McLaren, said the agreement “creates a very positive and ongoing relationship involving the DMC, McLaren and Karmanos Cancer center for specialized cancer care that will improve the health of patients in downtown Detroit and across the state of Michigan,” according to The Macomb Daily.
