Sutter Lakeside Hospital Will Close Clinics to Trim Costs

Less than a month after it announced plans to lay off 30 employees, Sutter Lakeside Hospital in Lakeport, Calif., will close two of its clinics in an effort to reduce costs, according to a Lake County News report.

Upper Lake Community Health Clinic is slated to close, along with the hospital's clinic that offers chronic pain management.

The hospital's chief administrative officer said the hospital plans to move Upper Lake clinic services to its main hospital campus, effective May 31, according to the report.  The clinic has three full-time employees and has averaged an annual loss of more than $200,000.

The pain management clinic is slated to close June 30. The hospital and physicians are working to find alternative treatments for pain management patients, according to the report.
